Art Jam at Redland Coast Art Society is one of the great perks of being a member, but visitors are always welcome.
Participants can bring whatever they're working on — painting, drawing, journalling, collage, mixed media, or that half-finished masterpiece quietly judging from the corner — and create in good company.
There is no formal lesson and no pressure. Just a relaxed, welcoming space filled with fellow art lovers, conversation, inspiration and the simple pleasure of making time for creativity. Tutors are usually around during the day, so if support is desired, encouragement or another pair of eyes on work is often close at hand.
Art Jam is held at the Redland Coast Art Society Gallery in Capalaba on the Second and Fourth Sunday of the month.
A fabulous collection of original artworks remains available for sale from the "We are Gooniyandi" - The Collectors Exhibition. First Nation Gooniyandi people from the Aboriginal Community of Kurinyjarn, located in the rugged hill country of the Mueller Ranges, The Kimberley, Western Australia. Their aim is to preserve their traditional ways, holding strong their language, telling their stories through art and passing on knowledge from one generation to the next.
Their art and craft makers produce exceptional works. They seek ways to explore opportunities to earn a living from their craft, to provide well for their families, free from obstruction and domination by those who seek to destroy their livelihood. They have the right to maintain their traditional way of life and move their mob forward to build a better future by taking the necessary steps in education and advancement, to be what they know they can.
Girrwarli paintings and artifacts represent a rich and colourful history, dating back some sixty-five thousand years. The purchase of Girrwarli artwork makes a positive difference in the lives of Gooniyandi Artists. Their beautiful works are currently on display and available for sale from Straddievarious Gallery on Raby Bay Harbour.

Just like a day on the water, you never know what you might reel in. As your drawing evolves with each spin, unexpected combinations and curious stories begin to surface. Perhaps a native fish sprouts wheels, a riverbank becomes a floating city, or a fishing lure transforms into an underwater treasure map. It's up to you!
Using the drawing materials provided, respond to the prompts as they appear and let chance guide your creativity. There are no mistakes, only new discoveries.
When you have completed your spins, it's time to reel in your masterpiece. Add your own ideas, details, colours and finishing touches to connect the elements together and make the artwork uniquely yours!

The local fishmonger, or 'Fisho', is the source of inspiration for artist Jack Rodgers. Photographs of locals with their prized catches provide an entry point to reflect on the connections we establish with our surroundings - whether at familiar fishing spots or, in Rodgers' case, through treasured family pilgrimages to the local fishmonger.
Drawing on this sense of place and nostalgia, Rodgers has created a series of works that explore fishing culture. From catching, selling and eating fish to fishing gear and tackle, the works also extend into the history of Brisbane's fishmongers, including the State Fish Market at South Brisbane.
FISHO celebrates fishing not just as a pastime, but as a shared cultural experience that fosters community. While grounded in Rodgers' personal story, the exhibition speaks more broadly to the universal emotional and nostalgic connections we hold to familiar places and everyday surroundings.
In Visualising the Written Word, the artists of Redland Yurara Art Society Inc. explore the interplay between the visual and the written. Seeking inspiration from a variety of written stimuli, including poetry, song lyrics, personal correspondence and prose, the artists offer fresh, creative responses to their chosen sources.
Beyond illustration, each work offers a glimpse into the psyche of the artist, exploring both their selected written piece and their artistic response. From the deeply personal to the abstract, the breadth of works offered demonstrates the vast possibilities of creativity.
