No Lights No Lycra

Wed, 28 Oct, 5:45 pm AEST

Cleveland · Free admission

Lights out, let's dance. No Lights No Lycra is the original dance in the dark movement proven to help people feel better. No Lights No Lycra Redlands Coast brings the joy of dancing in a safe, friendly, non-judgemental, drug and alcohol-free atmosphere to RPAC. The lights go out, the tunes crank, and everyone dances like nobody's watching. There's no light, no lycra, no teacher, no steps to learn, no technique, just free movement. A bit of everything is played, from rock, pop, swing, folk, hip hop, soul, disco, cheesy top 40, and dance floor classics across the decades, the song list varies weekly. Guests can always sit out for a song or step-tap on the spot if anything doesn't take their fancy. While it is dark, No Lights No Lycra is for dancing on your own, so people dance independently and it's completely non-contact. No Lights No Lycra ambassadors are spread across every major city in Australia and regional towns, with outposts in cities like Tokyo, Glasgow, Texas, New York, London, and Auckland. Redlanders have been dancing in the dark for a while now. Lights out, let's dance. There's room for everyone on the dance floor.

Pottery Workshop - Halloween Vessels

Sat, 31 Oct, 12:30 pm AEST

Cleveland · Check price with organiser

Halloween Vessels Pottery Workshop Create a Cauldron, Pumpkin, Jack-o'-Lantern or Your Own Sculptural Vessel. Join Carys in the studio for a playful pottery workshop, inspired by the folklore, traditions and imagery that surround Halloween - or take the techniques in your own direction and create a vessel to enjoy all year round. You'll begin with a pre-made, wheel-thrown round clay form, approximately 12 centimetres high, ready for you to transform. Starting with the form already made means you can spend the workshop concentrating on the creative part - building, sculpting, carving and decorating. Embrace the Halloween theme and transform your form into a witch's cauldron, grinning jack-o'-lantern, pumpkin pot, treat jar or offering vessel. Or leave Halloween behind and create something for year-round use - perhaps a botanical vessel, woodland-inspired pot, altar piece, creature or something entirely from your own imagination. Add handles, feet, faces, vines, leaves, mushrooms or other sculpted details. Carve into the surface, add texture and markings, and use underglazes to bring your creation to life.
