Katie Noonan - Alone but All One Tour - Canberra

Sat, 28 Nov, 7:00 pm AEDT

Belconnen · Check price with organiser

Five times ARIA Award winning artist Katie Noonan has released her 30th studio album: Alone but All One. The album is an intimate and powerful exploration of love in all its stages and features Katie's first songwriting collaboration with acclaimed writer Trent Dalton. The album is a powerful and delicate offering with Katie's piano and a string quartet the only accompaniment for her exquisite vocal performance. Alone but All One is a quiet turning inward - a return to something essential. Musically it is very stripped back - just Katie, her piano and a string quartet, recorded live in her lounge room on Gubbi Gubbi Country in the hills behind Nambour, Queensland. It feels like a deep breath before the next chapter. The creative intention is clear: to honour this moment, share it with care, and trust that others will feel themselves in it too.

Super Rats in Shrunken Form

Sun, 29 Nov, 7:00 pm AEDT

Canberra · From $20

Super Rats, Canberra's authentic Romanian folk band, play rough-edged traditional music for dancing and partying. At the heart of the band is a rare and wonderful instrument: the cimbalom. It's something like a honkytonk piano meets xylophone on the shores of the Black Sea. Join for this special fun-sized edition where they swap out the giant cimbalom for its midget backwoods cousin. Same multi-stringed fun with an even more rambunctious tone! Aural moonshine that makes banjos ashamed for their highbrow airs. They'll explore some alternative deep rural repertoire, particularly from Teleorman county, the 'crazy forest' of legend, full of brigands and plum brandy.
