Smith's at Belco: Things of Stone and Wood

Sat, 14 Nov, 7:00 pm AEDT

Belconnen · From $48

Thirty years ago a rag-tag bunch of folkies got together and formed a band called Things of Stone and Wood that went on to define Melbourne in the early 90s. Off the back of their top 10 single 'Happy Birthday Helen', the band achieved national success, international tours, a gold album 'The Yearning' and even a Late Show parody, kicking off a career that would place them as one of Australia's most loved Folk- Rock bands. Described as "Melbourne's most inspired and inspiring acoustic band" (Michael Dwyer), their imaginative use of organic instruments set off an acoustic/folk movement that paved the way for the likes of John Butler, The Waifs and Angus & Julia Stone. Their live show has always been full of energy and passion and whilst they've won many an industry award, including an ARIA and APRA Songwriter of the Year for Greg Arnold, it's on stage that they demonstrate why they are so loved.

Ainslie · From $55

Karen Baldwin, Evidential Medium, brings her Evening of Mediumship to the Ainslie Football and Social Club in Canberra. Evidential mediumship is demonstrated live and unedited. Guests are welcome to sit back and watch, and taking part is always optional. Not everyone receives a personal message, and no particular connection can be promised. What Karen does promise is an honest, down-to-earth evening. Come with curiosity, see it for yourself and decide what you make of it. Doors open at 7pm for a 7:30pm start, and the evening runs for around 90 minutes.
