Twilight Flow and Live Music is Canberra's unique immersive experience bringing together yoga-inspired movement, live music, sound immersion, light immersion and community.
Twilight Flow runs multiple events across various venues in Canberra and the surrounding region, Ngunnawal Country. This October, Twilight Flow and Live Music brings this unique experience to Ainslie Arts Centre, in the heart of Canberra.
The guided 90-minute session weaves together a powerful Yin&Yang yoga flow, combining dynamic and strong movements with grounding, deep stretches. The whole session is accompanied by live music from local artists, including handpan, didgeridoo, saxophone, synths, vocals, digital pads and more.
As the movement and flow intensify, so does the music, responsive to the energy in the room. The experience transitions into a deeply meditative sound bath for a further 30 minutes, held by crystal bowls and live instruments, and when the darkness falls, the space lights up with lighting immersion and displays that fill the room. The sessions close with live performances from the local musicians, giving the audience a truly unique performance. When the performances end, guests are invited to stay for herbal tea, fruit, and connection.
Whether you're a local Canberran or a visitor looking to experience a soulful, artistic evening in nature, Twilight Flow and Live Music is a transformative offering that bridges wellness, music, creativity, and community arts.

One Thursday every month the small bar upstairs at Smith's Alternative becomes a cosy jazz hang. Audience members and musicians alike share conversation, vintage vinyl spins on the turntable and, of course, there is live music. The Byways residency began in early 2026, featuring Ben Marston, Nick McBride and Chris Pound with help from their monthly guests.
The name Byways comes from the musicians' desire to explore lesser-known music from the jazz canon but in a way that is inclusive and welcomes the audience to share the exploration. Those who come along agree that they are joining the discovery to find that musicians and the audience alike are an important part of the music.
The evenings start with Ben and Nick playing this month's vinyl selection on the turntable, happily talking to anyone who wants to chat about these recordings. Once Ben and Nick have been convinced away from the turntable the trio plays the first set, exploring works ranging from Miles Davis, Don Cherry, Ornette Coleman to originals. After more vinyl in the break, Set Two showcases that month's guest.
Thursday evenings never looked so good.

On a blistering Valentine's Day in 1900, a group of schoolgirls from Appleyard College venture to the mysterious Hanging Rock. What begins as an idyllic picnic spirals into haunting uncertainty when several girls and a teacher vanish without a trace.
In Tom Wright's evocative stage adaptation of Joan Lindsay's iconic novel, five young women reconstruct, relive, and unravel the events of that fateful day. As memory fractures and myth takes hold, the line between truth and the inexplicable dissolves.
Part ghost story, part psychological puzzle, Picnic at Hanging Rock is a chilling exploration of repression, desire, and the unknowable forces that shape you.
