You probably already know him from reading the news. In 2018, he dressed up as a sewing needle and hid inside a strawberry. There should be a French word for the moment you realize a bald dude actually has a ponytail. He is so used to failure that success represents an existential threat.

Fischer-Z - Fremantle

Thu, 26 Nov, 7:30 pm AWST

Fremantle · Check price with organiser

Fischer-Z will embark on their first-ever Australian tour as part of the band's worldwide 50th anniversary celebrations. Although they have never toured Australia, Fischer-Z have enjoyed notable chart success here. Their global breakthrough "So Long" (1980) peaked at #15 on the Kent Music Report, followed by "The Perfect Day" (1987), which reached #12 on the ARIA Charts. These successes cemented a loyal Australian fan base, with Australia now ranking as the band's fourth-largest Spotify streaming market. Formed in 1976 by frontman John Watts after his unconventional path from clinical psychology into music, Fischer-Z quickly built a reputation for politically charged songwriting and high-energy performances. Their debut album Word Salad (1979) helped define the emerging post-punk movement, while "So Long" became one of the first music videos broadcast on MTV, propelling the band onto the global stage. Their third album Red Skies Over Paradise (1981) remains a career highlight. Across five decades, Fischer-Z have released 23+ albums, sold over two million records, and performed 3,000+ concerts worldwide, sharing stages with artists including James Brown, The Police, Dire Straits and Bob Marley. This year marks a true milestone — celebrating 50 years since Fischer-Z's formation — and, for the first time ever, bringing that legacy live to Australian audiences.

Walyalup Koort

Fremantle

The heart of Fremantle in the square originally imagined in 1833 by John Septimus Roe and where the wide blue Western Australian skies meet the architecture of a spirited 19th-century gold rush port city, where avenues of Jacaranda trees line the streets and Moreton Bay figs and plane trees create a canopy for an urban room in the heart of the downtown area. This is Walyalup Koort. Fremantle Town Hall stands tall in the square with a 32-metre clocktower and picturesque roofscape of turrets in the Victorian Free Classical style. Fremantle Visitor Centre in Walyalup Civic Centre is a natural point zero to begin exploring the city. Explore FOMO, pull up a stool for a counter meal and a cold beer at the ‘Fed’, a traditional Australian pub, and browse independent retail stores found in the beautifully restored Manning Buildings that extend over a city block along William Street through to Market and High Streets. There are no modern skyscrapers in sight in Fremantle’s town square, it’s a place of a human scale where friends gather, city workers emerge and children play. Walyalup Koort is a five-minute walk from Fremantle Bus and Train Station. Visit the Fremantle Visitor Centre for local information and tips on things to do while you are in Fremantle.
