Michael Roberts is a Tasmanian musician and producer who worked for many years in Sydney and toured internationally.
At the grand piano he plays and sings from a huge repertoire that embraces different eras from the American Songbook through the golden years of the '60s to the '80s and '90s. You could hear classics from Lennon/McCartney, Elton John and Billy Joel.
From Burt Bacharach, Simon and Garfunkel, Carole King and James Taylor to Australian classics from Paul Kelly, Crowed House and many others. Requests are welcome.
From Star Wars to Jurassic Park, Harry Potter to Jaws, and Indiana Jones to Home Alone, no composer has shaped the sound of the movies quite like John Williams.
With more Academy Award nominations than any other living person, John Williams' music makes for an extraordinary live experience.
Who better to celebrate the best of Williams' career than the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra? In a special concert event, the TSO and TSO Chorus, Art of the Score podcasters Andrew Pogson, Dan Golding, and conductor Leonard Weiss will take you into the musical world of Williams in a love letter to the great Maestro.

Awesome community trail running events on Hobart's iconic mountain!
Spanning four events across the year, the Series offers adventure, community spirit and a chance to immerse yourself in nature! At each event, choose from the longer Enduro distance or the shorter Sport distance. The Sport distance is fantastic if you're a trail kid (or have one at home!), if you'd prefer to run a shorter run, or if you're dipping your toes into trail running for the first time. They also have a third category, the Taster, with a 5km "pram-able" course at Tolosa in August, and shorter distances at our Ridgy Didge (September 27) event too.
The courses feature trails through alpine heaths and past dolerite cliffs, to dry peppermint forests and buttongrass moorland. The Palawa (Tasmanian Aboriginal community) generously welcome and share Kunanyi with trail runners – and for that, they're eternally grateful.
Your support crew are very welcome to join in, and they have BBQs, and games for the kids at the Event hubs, to give you the chance to have a yarn and connect with others in this beautiful trail running community.
In 2009 Farmy began with an honest and simple philosophy: if you couldn’t eat it, drink it, grow it, or meet the producer, then you wouldn’t find it at Farmy.
That ethos has always held true. Now, that little carpark farmers’ market that began with just 12 producers now hosts a street-side seasonal cast of over 200, and has grown into an essential Sunday ritual for locals.
We’re also acknowledged as one of the top five farmers’ markets in the country.
Tasmania’s distinct growing seasons make for an ever-changing array of cool climate produce – that’s what we celebrate every Sunday.
Staying true to what’s in season locally is reflected throughout the market on fresh produce stalls, in artisan foods and on street food vendors menus.
Nestled in a groovy alcove in the middle of Farmy you’ll find the Grub Hub.
This is where it’s at on Sunday in Hobart for breakfast, a cheeky brunch or lazy lunch, with all the hustle, bustle and smells of a street food market.
Each Sunday you’ll find ten rotating street food vendors dishing up international cuisines with a local twist.
See you Sunday.

Unshackled – Hobart Penitentiary is the full site experience in one ticket:
Tour the historic site: a guided tour of one of Australia's richest convict sites, wrought by convict labour for convicts, moving through underground tunnels, solitary cells, the prison exercise yard, courtrooms, and the Gallows.
Explore the Convict Memorial: a digital history experience allowing visitors to trace the lives of each of the 75,000 convicts transported to Tasmania between 1803 and 1853.
The Hobart Penitentiary began in 1821 as the Hobart Prison Barracks, built as accommodation for convicts employed in Government public works. In 1834 the surviving Penitentiary Chapel was completed.
75,000 convicts were transported to Van Diemen's Land between 1803 and 1853. Of these 62,500 were male convicts. After 1821 all male convicts were processed here before being given labour assignments across the island.
In 1857 convicts still under sentence were employed in converting two wings of the former Penitentiary Chapel as courtrooms. One wing remained as the prison chapel for the Penitentiary, then known as the Hobart Gaol. The Hobart Town gallows were relocated to the site with thirty-two people executed at the site 1857 – 1946. Some 300 to 400 men had been executed at the gallows on their original site in central Hobart. The Gaol was demolished in 1963 while the courts remained at the site until 1983.
