Blacksmith Experience

Sun, 25 Oct, 8:00 am ACDT

Port Elliot · From $665

This is a Blacksmith experience like no other as you will get straight into shaping hot metal and creating rather than just learning one boring technique. This is perfect for someone who simply wants to have a go, right up to experienced knife-makers that might want to try this different style, or even have not used a power hammer before. You will get the chance to hand forge a variety of products and experience the joy of shaping hot metal on a traditional Blacksmith's anvil and under a power hammer. You get to take home various products that you made from scratch, and they will be talking pieces for years to come. Be prepared to get your hands dirty, with this very 'hands on' experience, forging metal objects from upcycled materials. Tom will be there assisting you, one-on-one, helping you understand the art of raw blacksmithing. No experience needed however it will definitely be helpful if you are comfortable using power tools. He will instruct you carefully and demonstrate the safe use of the tools and machinery, some of which you probably wouldn't have encountered before. Check out the website as we also offer gift vouchers for both the half and full day experience.

Exhibition Wilderness by Emma Fält at Berg Herring Wines

Mon, 26 Oct, 12:00 am ACDT

Sellicks Beach · Check price with organiser

Wilderness brings together a series of works where wildflowers take shape through layered, shifting surfaces, built using translucent tissue paper, paint, and line. There's a balance between control and unpredictability—forms that feel familiar, yet slightly undone. Light moves through the layers, creating depth and drawing the viewer in to look closer. While grounded in the natural landscape, these works are less about depicting a specific place and more about capturing its feeling—something remembered and experienced. Presented at the cellar door of Berg Herring Wines, the exhibition invites visitors to slow down, engage with the work, and enjoy a wine tasting in a relaxed, light-filled setting.

McLaren Vale Cellar Door Tree Trail

Willunga

There are many reasons why the world need trees, the biggest plants on our planet. Trees give oxygen and they absorb carbon dioxide and gases that could be harmful. Trees can also lower temperatures by providing shade and they can reduce soil erosion. As well as all the ways they benefit us, trees also provide food and habitat for wildlife, including birds, reptiles, mammals and insects. To celebrate trees and their importance in the region and the wine industry, Maclaren Vake has created a unique McLaren Vale tree trail where you will find interesting information on a variety of trees. So come and have a look at some of the 54 beautiful trees that compose the tree trails at participating Cellar Doors with more to be announced soon!
