Dig deeper into traditional field craft and advanced survival techniques with their enlightening one day training course at their survival school Australia.
Expand your knowledge and skill base as they continue on from SCT's Essential Basic Survival Course 2. Explore in greater depth the various different areas of some traditional methods and up-to-date survival skills. Here, you will extend your previously learnt skill sets further, as they teach you more traditional wilderness methods missed with sound modern techniques and tested equipment, to help enable you to survive in the bush and tackle anything that mother nature can throw at you.
As with the other basic and intermediate courses, you will be instructed using a tried and tested method – a combination of highly relevant theory along with practical bush and survival skills that will help you in a real-world survival situation. You will learn to build natural shelters to fit the number of people in your group, how to make a natural bedding platform, and learn fire-lighting techniques among other skills.
Additionally, you will learn simple traps, and increase your knowledge from our previous courses on how to navigate and travel naturally using features in the land and using the sun and stars.
Sometimes we need to be trained to a much higher level than a basic course – especially if being lost or stranded in the bush lasts for more than one night…which is why a second level of intermediate outdoor survival training will make all the difference.
The majority of people don't often think about the dangers they could face if things turn serious when out hiking, skiing, or working remotely etc.
This turn of events can leave them badly equipped to cope with this kind of challenging scenario and lead to them becoming mentally and physically unprepared for such an emergency situation.
Quite simply, the better prepared you are and the more specialised knowledge and training you acquire, the less shocked and vulnerable you will feel – which ultimately helps you to react more calmly and make better-informed decisions.
Regardless of whether you're a hiker, climber, kayaker, 4WD enthusiast, someone who enjoys the great outdoors or anyone who has to work in remote areas – superior survival and bushcraft skills can save your life!
SCT's one day Intermediate Survival Course 2 is designed to take your critical ability, knowledge, and practical application to the highest level, using advanced survival techniques that are required in a wilderness environment.
The event runs from 7-10pm on Friday and Saturday night with haunted rides with real actors, candy stations, themed drinks, themed music, themed decorations and a costume contest.

Launceston's Gorge Scenic Chairlift lets you view the magnificent Cataract Gorge from above, located in Northern Tasmania.
Take in the spectacular features of Cataract Gorge from this single-span chairlift. View the South Esk River in a serene or turbulent mood after a flood as well as tree rhododendrons and fern glades. It takes about ten minutes to take the ride across Cataract Gorge and First Basin. Top speed is a sedate one metre per second, but usually, the chairlift runs slower than that to afford passengers a longer ride.
It is about 457 metres (1462 feet) from station to station, with a central span between two pylons of 308 metres (985 feet), believed to be the longest single span of any chairlift in the world. Since its opening in 1972, the chairlift has established a 100 per cent safety record.
Be sure to also wander the grounds below the chairlift, where you can enjoy an outdoor swimming pool, tearooms and the delightful peacocks who inhabit the area.
Launceston's Gorge Scenic Chairlift is around a 15-minute walk from Launceston's central business district.
The Cataract Gorge Reserve on the South Esk River is a unique natural formation just minutes from central Launceston.
The Gorge has walking tracks, a swimming pool, the world's longest single-span chairlift, a restaurant, cafe, a suspension bridge and panoramic lookouts with spectacular views. Peacocks and native wildlife add to the experience.
On the southern side of the river is First Basin, featuring a swimming pool and an open area surrounded by bushland. This part of the Gorge is popular with locals for picnics and barbecues.
On the shady northern side, known as the Cliff Grounds, is a Victorian garden with ferns and exotic plants. Relax on the rolling lawns, take shade under the rotunda and enjoy lunch with a view from the restaurant.
There's also a kiosk and tearooms where you can enjoy a cup of tea and scones. Wander across the footbridge that links the two areas or take a chairlift ride across the expansive Gorge. Further upstream is the historic Duck Reach Power Station, now an interpretation centre and well worth the short walk. Spend an hour or spend a day: the Gorge has something for everyone.
