Fischer-Z will embark on their first-ever Australian tour in November–December 2026, as part of the band's worldwide 50th anniversary celebrations.
Although they have never toured Australia, Fischer-Z have enjoyed notable chart success here. Their global breakthrough "So Long" (1980) peaked at #15 on the Kent Music Report, followed by "The Perfect Day" (1987), which reached #12 on the ARIA Charts. These successes cemented a loyal Australian fan base, with Australia now ranking as the band's fourth-largest Spotify streaming market.
Formed in 1976 by frontman John Watts after his unconventional path from clinical psychology into music, Fischer-Z quickly built a reputation for politically charged songwriting and high-energy performances. Their debut album Word Salad (1979) helped define the emerging post-punk movement, while "So Long" became one of the first music videos broadcast on MTV, propelling the band onto the global stage. Their third album Red Skies Over Paradise (1981) remains a career highlight.
Across five decades, Fischer-Z have released 23+ albums, sold over two million records, and performed 3,000+ concerts worldwide, sharing stages with artists including James Brown, The Police, Dire Straits and Bob Marley.
2026 marks a true milestone — celebrating 50 years since Fischer-Z's formation — and, for the first time ever, bringing that legacy live to Australian audiences.

Face To Face Touring is thrilled to present celebrated trailblazer, Suzi Quatro, the undisputed queen of rock 'n' roll, on the Down Under 2026 Tour, along with very special guests, Baby Animals.
The rock icon has defined a place in music history and her status remains unmatched. The singer, bassist, actress, author, and radio host was born in Detroit in 1950 and began her career early in her family's band, The Art Quatro Trio. At 14, she played with her sister Patti in the band The Pleasure Seekers, and with her distinctive blend of leather, bass, and unbridled energy, she became one of the first women not just to participate in rock music, but to shape it.
In 1973, she scored a worldwide No. 1 hit with "Can the Can", followed by other classics such as "48 Crash" "Devil Gate Drive" and the US duet "Stumblin' In."
To date, she has sold over 55 million records, and in addition to her music, Quatro has also been a successful actress, appearing in the cult series Happy Days and shining in London's West End in Annie Get Your Gun.
This exhibition presents a rare opportunity to view works from AGSA's rich collections of historical South Australian dress and photography. Drawing on recent research into the makers and wearers of the dresses, the exhibition brings the superb craftsmanship of the dressmakers into dialogue with photography of the period. Spanning from the 1850s through to 1920, the works offer a journey into a period of dramatic sartorial and social change.
The exhibition explores the way in which both photography and dress are artforms that emerge from everyday life – clothing worn in the home, close to the body, and a receptacle of personal and family histories. Similarly, photography was used to capture individuals and family members in pivotal moments of their lives, either dressed up in a photographer's studio or informally at home or outdoors.
Both dress and photography provide an insight into the intimate and public realm, and the way in which social and class expectations shaped self-presentation. Through a series of tableaux highlighting key works, the exhibition offers a powerful encounter with the materiality of the past.
