Sat, 14 Nov, 6:00 pm ACDT

Prospect · From $15

Peer Reviewed is an adults‑only science fair and gloriously queer nerd extravaganza celebrating the most chaotic STEM minds in our community. Competitors are invited to debut their most unhinged, playful and horniest research projects, proudly displayed on trifolds and explained with the kind of over‑the‑top enthusiasm only a queer scientist can muster. Registrations are $15 for contestants, or free for concession card holders. If presenting isn't your vibe, join us as an audience member and vote for the projects that delight, confuse or arouse you. You'll kick off the night by wandering through lovingly crafted displays showcasing everything from environmental curiosities to social science deep dives. Audience votes will determine our top contenders, who will then face off in a head‑to‑head showdown judged by a panel featuring a real researcher, a comedian and one of our beloved producers. Together, they'll decide who "wins at science" in a process that is equal parts scientifically rigorous and joyfully ridiculous. Peer Reviewed mixes its scientific chaos with performance and play, because learning should be fun. Expect a Strip Spelling Bee where local burlesque performers tackle scientific terminology with charm and strategic undressing. Come for the science. Stay for the nonsense. Leave with a brain full of new facts and a heart full of queer joy.

An Evening with Alastair Campbell

Wed, 18 Nov, 12:00 am ACDT

Adelaide · Check price with organiser

Few people have shaped modern politics and then dissected it as thoroughly as Alastair Campbell, co-host of the chart-topping podcast The Rest Is Politics. Taking to the stage for a series of in-conversation events, Campbell brings his trademark candour and wit to the global political landscape. For the best part of thirty years he has lived at close quarters with power, steering the UK government's message through the Good Friday Agreement, the Kosovo conflict and the Iraq war, and learning how the machinery underpinning government really works. Now, autocrats are back in fashion, culture wars dominate the press, AI and social media have demolished truth. These are the forces steadily pulling our democracies apart, and Alastair Campbell has witnessed their impact first-hand. Campbell unpacks how it all came to this, and what really happens in the corridors of power, drawing on the stories that rarely reach the official record. It promises to be an honest and refreshingly insightful night in the company of someone who has not just observed our politics, but had a hand in making it.

The Heartbreak Choir

Fri, 20 Nov, 12:00 am ACDT

Adelaide · Check price with organiser

From award-winning Australian writer Aidan Fennessy comes The Heartbreak Choir — a love song to kindness, courage and the humble community choir. In a weathered CFA hall on the edge of town, five locals gather to sing. They've broken away from their old choir over a matter of principle — and now, with a new name, a last-minute gig, and a bottle of local Sangiovese in hand, they're finding their harmonies once again. But this isn't just about music. It's about grief, community, and learning how to hold each other up when life strikes the wrong chord. Set in a regional town, The Heartbreak Choir is a gently funny, deeply moving celebration of connection, second chances, and the small, defiantly hopeful ways we show up for one another. With its dry wit, big-hearted characters and unmistakable Aussie charm, this is a play that will leave you humming the high notes. With a stellar cast of South Australian performers including the incomparable Libby O'Donovan, this play from State Theatre Company South Australia promises a powerhouse of local talent.
