Hive Grove is a vibrant boutique nestled in the heritage heart of Millthorpe Village, located 15 minutes from Orange offering fashion, accessories, gifts, homewares custom-designed mats, locally grown flowers and products . It's all about colour, creativity and style.
Back in 2019 founder Gwenda began making custom mats from her kitchen table in Orange, NSW. What started as a creative outlet quickly blossomed into a full-fledged business. Inspired by her love of bees, Gwenda launched Busy Bee Creative Hive, an online shop connecting clients with hand-painted, artisanal mat designs.
With growing support locally, nationally, and internationally, Gwenda's kitchen startup expanded beyond the walls of her home. This success led to the opening of Hive Grove in Millthorpe, a bricks-and-mortar store that now showcases her mats alongside a carefully curated selection of fashion, homewares, and gifts.
Hive Grove is an homage to Gwenda's creative journey and the history of Millthorpe, which was formerly known as Spring Grove. The name 'Hive' celebrates the legacy of Busy Bee Creative Hive, while 'Grove' honors the village's rich past. Today, HIVE GROVE continues to thrive as a beloved boutique, blending old-world charm with new creative ventures, and offering a welcoming experience to locals and visitors alike.

Fairbridge Farm School operated near Molong, NSW, on Wiradjuri Country, from 1938 to 1974 as a home and training institution for British child migrants. Nearly 1,000 children, aged between four and 18, were sent from the UK under promises of care and opportunity. In practice, boys were trained for farm work and girls for domestic service, with limited formal education.
As former residents aged and the original village fell into neglect, the Old Fairbridgians Association (OFA) sought to create a lasting memorial to their shared experience. With minimal resources but strong community support, they developed the Fairbridge Children's Park, which opened in 2020. The park, located at a former rest stop near the original farm, was designed as a place for reflection and storytelling rather than a traditional monument. Its layout follows the children's journey in four themed precincts, connected by a central path along Molong Creek, a site of childhood significance.
Today, the park serves as a space for learning, reconciliation, and remembrance, complementing local tourism and preserving an important chapter of Australian history.
Yuranigh's grave is located just 4km south of Molong and 32km north of Orange. It's a significant historical site that bears witness to important early interaction between Aboriginal and European cultures.
Yuranigh, a Wiradjuri man, accompanied early explorer and surveyor Sir Thomas Mitchell on an expedition into the tropical interior of Australia in 1846. When Yuranigh died 4 years later, he was buried within a circle of carved trees, according to the traditional custom of his people. Out of respect, Mitchell also had a headstone placed over his grave. As a result, the gravesite contains a unique combination of Aboriginal and European burial customs that is not known of anywhere else in Australia.
Today, you can visit the peaceful cemetery and see a carved section of a trunk from one of the original burial trees. Take a moment to pause by Yuranigh's grave. The original sandstone headstone was donated by Mitchell, as well as a marble headstone that was later installed in 1900. The inscription on the headstone reads: 'To native courage honesty and fidelity Yuranigh who accompanied the expedition of discovery into tropical Australia in 1846 lies buried here according to the rites of his...
