A challenging, yet fun and unique course, Lonsdale Links is ranked 20th in Australia and 8th for Public Access golf courses in Australia (Golf Australia Magazine Top 100 rankings).
Designed by renowned course architects OCM, the intention was to create a strategic course, which reveals more of itself each time you play. Drawing inspiration from trailblazer, Charles Blair Macdonald, and his colleagues Seth Raynor and Charles Banks, OCM designed the course as a deliberate throwback to an earlier age with template holes featuring throughout.
The Clubhouse is designed by architect Wood Marsh. Sitting at the highest point on the course overlooking the Lake Victoria, the state-of-the-art facility is welcoming to both golfers and non-golfers with a restaurant, outdoor kiosk, and children's playground - a venue the whole family can enjoy.
The Portarlington Golf Club is a golf club and a community hub on the magnificent Bellarine Peninsula.
The golf course is near the beach, but it's not a links; it has beautiful trees, but nor is it a parkland course. You can play championship events here, or just knock about on a shorter layout with mates. It's a wonderfully prepared layout which has that rare and much-sought combination of challenge and fun for players at all levels.
It features superbly conditioned bent greens, drains quickly and is an easy walk with only gentle undulations. Even better, with a range of tee choices, you will find a length and difficulty that suits your level of play.
Inside the modern clubhouse, the bar and bistro are about sharing greatness - great food, great occasions, and great people. The menu provides a tasty mix of modern and traditional cuisine, all with as much local produce as possible – and the fridges are stocked with a wide variety of beverages, highlighting the world-renowned Bellarine vineyards.
The golf course pro shop opens daily from 7am most of the year, but at 8am in mid-winter. It operates until 6pm most of the year, but later in the height of summer. The clubhouse opens from 10am daily, closing late at night with meals from 11.30am to 8pm. Check the website for details.
