Roam Discovery Trail is a collection of interactive walking trails across Victoria's Goldfields. Choose a trail, follow the markers and scan the QR codes to uncover rich history with immersive storytelling and augmented reality, unlocking hidden stories, and interactive experiences through your phone. Download the Roam Discovery Trail app and explore the diggings like you have never seen before! Be transported back to Castlemaine's gold rush when you see the Garfield Waterwheel brought to life. Use your smartphone and see the wheel reinstated into the original stone footings, and view the enormous scale of the wheel when it was in motion. Start in Mostyn Street, Castlemaine then drive 9 minutes to Garfield Water Wheel. As there are only two markers, the experience can take as long as you choose! Scan to discover the history of the area, and the water wheel. Then jump in the car and head to the Garfield Water Wheel, located in the Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park - following the Parks Victoria signs to via a dirt road. When you arrive, walk past the Water Wheel's original stone foundations and find a sign with the QR code. The fun won't end there - you can use the app to explore more trails throughout Victoria's Goldfields with experiences in Ballarat, Bendigo, Bridgewater, Hanging Rock and Hepburn.
