About this place

What to expect

Located just 50 km from the seaside town of Streaky Bay, Point Labatt Conservation Park is home to the only permanent mainland colony of endangered Australian sea lions. It's one of the best and most accessible places in the world to observe these rare marine mammals in the wild. From the clifftop viewing platform, 50 metres above the beach, you can safely watch sea lions and New Zealand fur seals basking in the sun or playing along the shoreline. During breeding season, you might even spot pups learning to swim or scampering across the sand. This unique coastal experience is ideal for a half-day trip, with interpretive signs providing insights into sea lion behaviour and conservation. To protect their natural habitat, camping and access to the beach and aquatic reserve are strictly prohibited. As the lookout is exposed, bring a warm or windproof jacket for your visit. The Point Labatt Sealion Colony viewing platform is located within the Point Labatt Conversation Park. A must-see destination for wildlife lovers, photographers, and anyone exploring South Australia's stunning Eyre Peninsula.
